Physiotherapy is very important after many types of surgery, particularly orthopaedic or joint surgery. Often joints become stiff, muscles waste and weaken due to pain, disuse and immobilisation, and there is general pain and swelling in the area. It is essential to retrain local muscles around the injured/operated area as well as trunk or ‘core’ muscles and often very specific strengthening is needed to achieve a full recovery particularly after ankle, knee, shoulder and spinal surgery.
SOS Physiotherapy’s unique “phase-based rehab” programmes ensure the best and fastest recovery possible by first controlling the inflammation, pain and swelling then restoring the full normal range of motion of the affected joint(s), and then progressing on to advanced strengthening and stretching.
We regularly update your surgeon and GP during your journey to recovery, and guide you safely back to all your normal sporting, work and leisure activities.
